Oriel Factory

Paul Granjon
The Oriel Factory (2011)

The Oriel Factory turned the Oriel Davies Gallery in Newtown, Wales into a robot factory. The volunteer factory workers dismantled a variety of defunct technology (computers, CD players, radios etc.) and re-constructed the parts to make a ‘family’ of robots. The ‘Thingy’ roamed the gallery space emitting sound and interacting with the visitors while the ‘Big Bootloader’ robot moved on a track and tried to catch the Thingy robots. The robots were charged by solar panels on the gallery roof and human-powered bicycle generators.

Nice blog artice here.
