Thanks so much to everyone who participated in the second m-Log workshop. Steve and I were totally blown away by everyones enthusiasm and creativity. We completed 5 new m-Logs and have 2 in Owl care for some pretty minor adjustments.
We would also really like to thanks Jim Prevett and [ SPACE ] for being fantastic hosts, Design 24 for doing such a good job of preparing the wood, Cybersonica for helping to cover some expenses and Leafcutter John for his excellent MAX demo and thoughtful discussion about interface design.
So here is a brief description of what happened.
We started on friday with a pretty relaxed introduction to the m-Log before everyone got a chance to open up their kits and start to design their layouts.

Then we moved outside into the courtyard and started to get our hands dirty.

Time disappeared into a blur of sawdust and solder smoke until saturday afternoon when some fully formed logs started to appear. I think Matt finished first but then had to take his apart because he had a problem with one of his pots. A rumour soon started to spread that Susan had sabotaged his log by swapping his 10K pot with a 1M pot. We now know does strange things to the muio's circuitry and that its generally better to stick to 10K. Susan finished hers before Matt but somewhere during this Gerrad's was done too.
This sort of thing plays havock with any kind of numbering system, but hey who cares they all looked fantastic !
Susan's log before the back was glued on

Gerrad's m-Log (apparently he has been a hand model before). Also notice the secret button at the bottom.... This was partly my fault from drilling a hole for an analogue input where we could not fit one.

Matt's elegant design with possibly the first inclusion of recessed side buttons.

We then had a fantastic presentation by Leafcutter John, I put down my camera and picked up a video camera so no photos I am afraid.
Then the daylight started to leave us and things got pretty manic.
Susan finished hers..... It looks simple enough but it has 4 analogue inputs along the back.

Seth won the prize for the most pimped log with 4 light sensors an infrared sensor, potentiometer, accelerometer and loads of switches.
We had some problems with the infrared sensor so now its going to Owl care but it should be ready soon.

After having to pop to the local hardware store to get a large drill bit for Arif's ultrasound sensor he completed

Jim's log was just about finished too but he was also busy rushing around organising things.... Unfortunately I don't
have a photo of it yet but I will hopefully soon.
The full flickr stream is here. Really I spent most of my time standing over the drill and hot glue gun so please add your own experience of the workshop.
